MAT Result 2021 – Marking Scheme, Cut Off & Analysis

The All India Management Association (AIMA), the conducting body of MAT 2021, will release the MAT result 2021 for the September session on the official MAT website.

MAT results will be available in the form of a scorecard which will contain the sectional and overall scores of the candidates. To check your MAT exam results, you will have to log in to the official website of AIMA and enter the MAT credentials that you had created at the time of registration.

How to check MAT result

After the MAT result of 2021 is released on the official website, you can download your MAT scorecard.

Steps to download MAT scorecard

Follow these steps to download your MAT result:

  • Visit the official website of MAT
  • Go to the ‘Download/View’ tab.
  • A drop-down menu will appear in which you have to select ‘MAT IBT result’
  • Select the particular session of the test
  • Enter your credentials, i.e., your registration number and form number
  • Click on the “Submit” tab to view your MAT 2021 scorecard

You can also request your MAT result via SMS, to get the same, you have to follow the instructions given below:

  • Enter your MAT 2021 application number and date of birth
  • Type the prefix “MAT” before them
  • Send it to 54242

MAT Marking Scheme

According to the MAT exam pattern, the MAT marking scheme is as follows:

  • For every correct answer, you will be awarded 1 mark.
  • For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • The total scaled score is 800 marks.

How to calculate MAT Result

The total percentile obtained by a candidate in MAT is most commonly used for admission into management courses. Colleges give special weightage to the section-wise percentiles while offering the choice of specialisation. 

Composite score: It refers to the marks obtained in the first four sections of the MAT exam The range of composite scores is between 199 and 801. All scores below 200 are rated as 199.

For final percentile calculation, the following formula is used:

Composite Score / Total number of candidates who appeared for the exam X 100 = MAT percentile

MAT Cut-Off

The MAT cut-off, which is released after the MAT result depends on numerous factors. Three of the main factors are listed below:

MAT admission process

After the results are declared, candidates have to use MAT scores to apply to institutes of their choice. There are 600+ institutes that accept MAT scores for admission into MBA and other similar management courses. However, you can apply to up to 5 colleges and you will be called for the second round if you meet the cut-offs set by them.

The common chronology of steps in the MAT admission process has been given below.

  1. In the first round, candidates are shortlisted by the chosen colleges on the basis of CMAT cut-offs
  2. The shortlisted candidates receive call letters for the selection round via the registered email id
  3. In the selection round, candidates are asked to produce certain documents(details below) for verification
  4. The selection procedure for the second round consists of Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview
  5. Based on the total scores in the second round, candidates are shortlisted for final admission

Documents to carry on the day of selection

On the day of selection, the details entered by the candidates during application are verified by the institute authorities. You need to produce original as well as photocopies of the documents listed below.

  • Graduation mark sheet
  • MAT scorecard
  • MAT admit card
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • 12th Marksheet / Certificate
  • DOB proof (10th Marksheet, Birth Certificate)

The institute will return the originals after verifying and keep the photocopies for the record. The number of photocopies to carry will be mentioned in the call letter.

MAT 2020 December Paper Analysis

Expect the section-wise difficulty level, which can be termed as moderate to difficult, there were no major changes in the paper.

MAT 2020 September Paper Analysis

The September session was also conducted in an IBT mode or Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) which means that the candidates were able to take the examination from the comfort of their homes on their personal laptops/desktops with the exam pattern been same as that of PBT/CBT in 2021.

MAT 2020 May Paper Analysis

AIMA conducted MAT May 2020 in the newly introduced Remote Proctored Internet-Based Test (IBT) mode due to the coronavirus pandemic in May, June, July, August, and September. The exam authorities used a remote proctoring method for student verification and exam invigilation to ensure no candidate resorted to cheating or any other malpractice.

There was no change in the MAT 2020 exam pattern of IBT mode. The difficulty level of the IBT mode exams held in May-July had a moderate level of difficulty. The Verbal Ability, Data Analysis, and Reasoning questions were quite time-consuming.

MAT 2020 February Paper Analysis

Apart from a few tricky questions in the Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Quantitative Aptitude section, the overall question paper of MAT 2020 February session exam was easy.

Experts state that a score of 110-112 is sufficient for students to fetch a 90+ percentile cut-off in their MAT result.

What is a good MAT score?

A composite score of 400 and above in your MAT result is considered a good MAT score. Most of the MBA colleges accepting MAT select students with a MAT score in the range of 80 to 99 percentile.

What is my MAT percentile?

AIMA converts your raw score to scaled score leading to an overall composite score out of 800 after normalization across the test sessions and different testing modes. Based on the scaled score, your MAT percentile is awarded.

What is the MAT exam for MBA?

Is 70 percentile good in MAT?

70 – 80 percentile is a moderate score in the MAT but there are many good colleges where cut-offs are expected to remain in that range. MAT scores are only used for screening in the first round. The final admission is done on the basis of the scores in the GD/PI round.

Is MAT Result 2021 out?

The MAT exam results for February and May are out already and candidates can check their results on the official website of AIMA-MAT. The results for the September session will be out by the end of September.

Does any IIM accept MAT score?

Only CAT scores are accepted for admission into the IIMs. However, with MAT score, you can take admission into more than 600 colleges all over India and abroad.
