  • It is a computer-based test (CBT)
  • Both MCQ and descriptive type questions are asked
  • MCQ questions carry 4 options and the examinees mark one correct answer
  • For non-MCQ or Type in the Answer (TITA) questions, the candidates type the answers using the keyboard
  • Total number of questions - 100
  • Duration - 3 hours (180 minutes)
  • Total 3 sections are there in the exam – Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Aptitude (QA)

CAT 2020 Syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude (QA)

Last year, 34 questions were asked from this section in the exam and the same is expected this year too. This section aims at testing the concepts of Mathematics, which the students have studied till class X. The Quant section plays a major role in the CAT exam and usually the difficulty level of the questions here is a little higher compared to other sections. The questions in CAT 2020 from this section expect the students to have their basics and concepts clear. Also, have a sharp mind to think logically and perform in the given timeline. The difficulty level of the questions may not be so high but the running clock may add to the difficulty level.  CAT exam syllabus 2020 for Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DI-LR)

This section of CAT 2020 comprises questions where the exam takers are required to quickly analyze the data and derive the solution. Data Interpretation as the name suggests carries questions in the form of diagrams, tables, charts, graphical representation etc. and the candidates will have to analyze this data and answer the questions. Questions on logical reasoning check the skills of the candidates to analyze and logically evaluate the given problem statement and reach on to the correct answer. The key to solving logical reasoning questions is to quickly unveil the hidden logic and thereby reaching the answer. Last year, 32 questions were asked from this section and CAT is expected to have the same number of questions. This section comprises Reading Comprehension and questions which aim at testing the verbal ability of the candidates. Last year, total 34 questions were asked in this section, out of which 4 were reading comprehensions which had 16 questions and 18 questions were from verbal.
